Hi! So yeah, the inauguration’s happening soon. Right now your trusty co-leaders are sitting at the Hub, occasionally peeking at the horrific news while the Jeff Sessions hearing confirmations are taking place. It’s real. It’s really real. (As Felicia likes to say, this IS the darkest timeline). We aren’t living in a fantasy world though, so we decided that we’re going to do some things as She+ Geeks Out, and we hope you can join us.

Friday January 20th
Some of you may have heard that there are calls for women to go on strike 1/20-1/21, to demonstrate the political power women hold. We’re going to go see Hidden Figures. And while we do love Star Wars, we’re so thrilled to see that Hidden Figures beat them at the box office this weekend!
We’ll be at AMC Assembly Row, we got tickets for the 1:30pm show in Row F. We’d love to see you there!
Saturday, January 21st
We plan on attending the Boston Women’s March on the Boston Common. We’ll be marching in solidarity with those communities that are most affected by the hate sweeping our country: women, immigrants, POC, LGBTQIA, people with disabilities, and more. The march starts at 11 AM and all are welcome. If you would like to join us, we have a semi-official Eventbrite team set up; when you register you can choose to do so under the She+ Geeks Out team name. You’ll be taken to the main Women’s March Eventbrite; sign up for a ticket (it’s free) and enter your information as usual, and you’ll be added to our team! There are going to be TONS of people there so we’re planning to all meet up by the Robert Gould Shaw & 54th Regiment Memorial across from City Hall at 10:30/10:45 AM and we’ll walk down together!
FOR THE SOCIALLY ANXIOUS and FIRST TIMERS: Here’s a fun fact. This is our first time marching. Rachel hates big crowds and cold weather and Felicia hates standing for long periods of time. But we’re going, because, while it may not move the political needle, we believe wholeheartedly in community (of course!) and in standing together for what is right and against hate. So please, if you’re nervous, know that we are too, but we’re doing it. And we’re looking to be smart about it. No risks. Something looks weird, dangerous, unsafe? No need to be in it. Also, comfortable shoes and layers just make sense. Let’s stand together.

Rachel will be at the Jamaica Pond (JP represent!) for the Run for All run/walk, proceeds going to one of our favorite organizations, the ACLU.
