1. What can I expect at the SGO Virtual Get a Job You Love Summit?

SGO’s Virtual Get a Job You Love Summit will be a half-day opportunity for those who are job seekers or job-curious to learn from trusted career coaches and hiring managers how to set yourself up for success in the job search. The job market is inundated with candidates, and this Summit aims to equip you with the skills, confidence, and ability to represent your whole self in the job search. Additionally, we’ll be sending you open job listings from some of our trusted corporate partners, and you’ll get the opportunity to connect with some of them at the event itself with a dedicated networking hour at the end of the day.

2. Do I need to be active in my job search to attend the Summit?

Not at all! The information you’ll receive from the sessions and the networking you’ll do at the event will benefit you both in and out of the job search. The overarching goal of the work that we do here at She+ Geek Out is to create opportunities for awesome women+ to connect with companies working hard to dismantle inequities in the workplace. The Summit is your place if you’re looking for a space to vibe with other like-minded professionals!

3. Who will I be hearing from?

Throughout SGO’s ten years, we’ve enjoyed working with career coaches and HR professionals who have shared their wisdom and knowledge. You’ll learn from Alex Mimms, Belma McCaffrey, and Jenn Walker Wall in this year’s Summit.

Alex Mimms has spent the last decade recruiting for tech companies of all sizes – from global Fortune 100 organizations to startups at various stages. She’s currently the Head of Talent Acquisition for Iterative Health, a Boston-based health-tech organization. As a recruiting leader, Alex focuses most of her energy on creating positive candidate experiences and ensuring a fair and equitable hiring process. When she’s not working, you can find her gardening, preparing ridiculously complex meals with her partner, or out for a run!

Belma McCaffrey is a Career and Leadership Coach, CEO, and Founder of Work Bigger, a career coaching platform for dissatisfied high-achievers who want to find their purpose.

Through coaching and education, Work Bigger helps individuals connect to their mission and step into their purpose and full potential. Work Bigger also supports multi-million and billion-dollar brands in luxury retail, food, and media.

Belma’s work has been featured in Forbes, Fortune, Thrive, and other media platforms. Belma is also a refugee, a mom, and prior to Work Bigger, she spent 10+ years working in media and strategy roles at companies like the Associated Press and Conde Nast.

Jenn Walker Wall is the founder of Work Wonders Careers, where she helps mission-driven professionals make moves that matter. After spending the early part of her career in hiring, training, and leadership development, Jenn and her team now help mission-driven professionals launch strategic job searches, communicate their values, and align their work with their values.

Work Wonders Careers offers resume writing, job search strategy, and professional development support for both individuals and groups to help

professionals get unstuck and generate clarity, confidence, and results.

Jenn is also the host of ReImagining Ambition. She shares career and job-search advice and insights, available on both Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

Previously, she worked at MIT, Harvard University, and Massachusetts General Hospital and taught sociology for nearly ten years at Lesley University.

You can find her cooking up a storm in her kitchen when she’s not working. You can learn more by visiting www.workwonderscareers.com.

4. What are the summit sessions going to be about?

We worked with our Summit speakers to curate sessions that speak to the different perspectives and aspects of the job search.

“Acing the Recruiter & Hiring Manager Interviews” facilitated by Alex

How the heck do I get past the recruiter? What on earth is this hiring manager looking for? If you’ve ever wondered these questions (or asked them aloud), this talk should help demystify what recruiters and hiring managers are looking for during their interviews with you.

TL; DR it’s a combination of knowing what to expect and perfecting your story!

“How to find work you love – even when you have no idea what you want to do” facilitated by Belma

Is there a voice deep down calling you to step into something new – maybe a career that offers you joy, fulfillment, and balance?

But, rather than taking action on your goals,

  • You waste time on Netflix, avoiding your to-do list.
  • You’re stuck in limbo, wasting precious time at a job that is not fully serving you.
  • You’re tired and burned out, so getting started feels hard.

If this is speaking to you, join us for a discussion with Belma McCaffrey, Career and Leadership Coach, where you’ll discover:

  • The ONE THING that is keeping you stuck in career limbo that nobody is talking about,
  • The 3-Selves, a groundbreaking concept that, when harnessed, will slay self-sabotage and upgrade negative thoughts and feelings with powerful new constructive ones.
  • A step-by-step process that’s helped hundreds of people discover their true purpose and change careers, start businesses, or find jobs that light up their souls.

Are you ready to take your power back?
