NYCWe held our first ever NYC event in September, hosted by Silverline. What a treat to have our very first She+ Geeks Out NYC gathering in their gorgeous offices overlooking Union Square. The space was cool (Lego podiums, anyone?), the food and drink plentiful, and the speakers engaging. We had a wonderful time hearing from speakers Melissa Nelson, Jenny Fan, and Cindy Perman. At the end of the evening there was mingling and networking. We even made a special pilgrimage to ThinkGeek’s brick and mortar location to stock up on raffle prizes!

Read on to learn a little bit more about the night from Amanda Mandell, a Marketing Associate at Silverline CRM:Silverline

Why did you decide to sponsor She+ Geeks Out?
We love being able to show off our awesome female employees but also we love networking with other incredible and smart women.

What has your SGO experience been like?
Beyond wonderful. From the initial conversation until the end of the event, everything was well prepared.

Have you received any feedback from your employees about the company’s involvement with SGO?
Everyone really enjoyed the event and mentioned how they would like to get more involved in women in tech networking.

What do you geek out about?
Personally I geek out over seeing one of my random creative thoughts becoming a reality.

Did you miss us in NYC? We’ll be back next month for our second event there, hosted by DigitalOcean. Tickets are available here.

Land Acknowledgement

She+ Geeks Out was originally founded on land that is the traditional territory of the Massachusett and Pawtucket tribes, and which is still home to descendants of these peoples. At this point in time, the SGO team is fully remote, and we are located across the United States. Land acknowledgements are a way for us to reflect upon the duality of our work— while we work within our team, our community, and our client organizations to promote greater inclusivity and abolish inequities, we ourselves still perpetuate and contribute to various forms of historical and present oppression. We are now operating in a virtual space, but we can still honor and name the physical spaces we all inhabit. We encourage you to learn more about the lands you are currently on and reflect on your own place in this work.
