I started out as an iOS developer working on the Ad Products team. Currently I am a mobile chapter lead, or engineering manager, which means I spend less time heads-down coding, and more time supporting my team and making sure everyone is being properly challenged and generally unblocked. I also get to work closely with our product team in defining what our team will be doing next and how we all work together.
I have been working as a Software Engineer in industry since 2009. The first three years were spent as a Co-op, or long-term intern, while I was completing my undergraduate degree at Northeastern University.
I think being a mobile developer is really exciting right now. There are so many opportunities out there, everyone and everything wants an app for their product. So you have the opportunity to work in a lot of different domains, as well as work on a platform that is continuously improving.
The best advice I have gotten is to never stop learning.
