Why did you decide to sponsor She+ Geeks Out?
Invaluable’s Women’s Networking Group is made up of a dynamic group of women who span a broad range of skill sets within the tech/startup community. We are a group of women who are committed to communicating with one another, teaching each other new skills, and solving new problems together so that we can improve our work environment and foster our own personal development. She+ Geeks Out aligns with our mission and our goals to do so.
What has your SGO experience been like?
So far, wonderful! Many of us have attended networking and leadership events and we’ve had nothing but positive things to say about the group of people that attend and the overall value gained from their experiences.
Have you received any feedback from your employees about the company’s involvement with SGO?
Yes – the team has expressed nothing but excitement and intrigue. We can’t wait to see what the [year ahead] brings.
How do you see Boston/Cambridge as an important community for supporting women in tech?
We are fortunate to live in an area that is a hub to so many smart women, and so many communities that foster development of women in tech. Boston and Cambridge are critical to helping move the mark on women’s involvement in tech – with some of the major tech and research universities in the country right at our doorstep, and a bourgeoning tech industry, the global community will be looking here to see how we can change the industry.
What do you geek out about?
Fine art! In fact, our meeting rooms are named after famous artists. Picasso, Lichtenstein, O’Keefe, Rothko, etc. We’re also pretty geeky about our own platform – we’re passionately working together to transform the way people discover and buy art and antiques online.
