Holiday Gift Guide 2020: Home & Office

This year we’re mixing up our annual Holiday Gift Guide, giving you bits and pieces of love over the next several weeks. Why do we make this guide every year? Because we love to shop, give gifts, and support women and other marginalized genders-owned businesses. And we also love sharing. Sharing is CARING!

Oh and let’s make one thing very clear, we believe in giving ourselves gifts, too, and if there’s any year when that should happen, it’s 2020. So treat yourself if you’re able!

To kick off this series, let’s start with the obvious. Home & Office! We all could probably use a little sprucing up in the place we’re spending all the hours. The holidays are a great way to give something that your friend, colleague, or family member can add to their desk, put on their walls, or add to a favorite room.

Here are some of our FAVORITE places to shop online and we’ve got a few favorite items we’ve picked out as well.

Jungalow

Jungalow is your one-stop-shop for all things jungalicious! Bohemian-modern home decor is the style here, with items small and large. Add a splash of color and know that your dollars are also going to plant trees! Boom. You just gave a gift to someone AND to the planet. Winning!

OUR PICK: Peace Vase $68

Bold and colorful vessels with personality are kind of our thing here at Jungalow. These Peace Vases will add just the right amount of charm to your #shelfie. Fill with foraged flowers or dried palm leaves and display it as a sculptural focal point on your entryway table or mantle. Designed by Justina Blakeney exclusively for Jungalow®.

Society6

If you’re looking for beautiful, unique art for the home at an affordable price by super talented humans, this is your place to go! Started by an artist who wanted other artists to have a platform to share their work. There are a ton of incredible women and other marginalized genders artists (including SGO community member and cleverest girl, Molly Walter!).

Our Pick: Smart Polar Bear Book Lover Clock $32

Who doesn’t want to giggle a little when they go to look at what time it is? We adore this polar bear and all of their clear intelligence. They’re hugging a book but we wish that book were us. Yeah, we know we’re weird. This clock is just one of many examples of stunning individual expression and we bet you’ll be able to spend hours going through all the options. Sorry?

Olives and Grace

We would be remiss if we didn’t list one of our favorite Boston local shops which has a lovely online collection of gifts. Started in 2012 by a woman who wanted to bring her fabulous eye for home and food gifts to the public, you can find her shop in the South End and get lost in all of its treasures.

Our Pick: The “Local Maker” Boston Gift Box $102

If you know someone who’s missing the East Coast, this is the perfect gift. A delicious reminder of Massachusetts, this box is filled with goodies that are small batch and made with love.

TK.Co. Self Care

Self Care is the only thing we really need this year, and we’re obsessing over all the gorgeous products from TK.Co. Self Care. TK.Co is a handmade wellness brand based in Baltimore City. They create artisan bar soap, Castile liquid soaps, lotion, candles, and much more for all your self care needs.

Our Pick: Blue Ombre Soap $12

Our fantasies are all about a tropical beach vacation, but that’s not in the books for this year. Bring the ocean to your home with this perfectly dreamy blue ombre soap, getting a soft, sweet lather from the olive oil and cocoa butter.

We hope you stay safe and have a fun time shopping!

Land Acknowledgement

She+ Geeks Out was originally founded on land that is the traditional territory of the Massachusett and Pawtucket tribes, and which is still home to descendants of these peoples. At this point in time, the SGO team is fully remote, and we are located across the United States. Land acknowledgements are a way for us to reflect upon the duality of our work— while we work within our team, our community, and our client organizations to promote greater inclusivity and abolish inequities, we ourselves still perpetuate and contribute to various forms of historical and present oppression. We are now operating in a virtual space, but we can still honor and name the physical spaces we all inhabit. We encourage you to learn more about the lands you are currently on and reflect on your own place in this work.
