Pie charts composed of people: one quarter, one third and one half, statistics and demographics concept

We’re excited to announce our inaugural research project intended to assess the state of diversity and inclusion among Boston-area tech companies. We’ve found that while many surveys have been conducted on this topic, few if any have focused exclusively on the Boston area. We are partnering with Dr. Clare Mehta, a faculty member in the Psychology Department at Emmanuel College, to collect and analyze this data. We have one survey designed specifically for Boston-area tech companies, and another for employees of Boston-area tech companies. We’ll be compiling the data into a report, and hope that the results will benefit everyone in the local tech industry by highlighting our collective strengths and areas for growth, relating to this important topic. If you work for a tech company, or if you represent a local tech organization, please read below to access the surveys directly– all data will be kept confidential.

Employers!

You’re invited to participate in a survey on diversity and inclusion for Boston area tech companies. Benefits of participating include receiving our final report as well as a customized diversity and inclusion report, with recommendations specifically tailored to your company. The survey should take no more than 30 minutes to complete and to thank you for your participation you can choose to be entered into one of three giveaways to win either free admission to a professional development event on diversity and inclusion, a $100 Amazon gift card, or an advertisement on the She+ Geeks Out podcast.

Land Acknowledgement

She+ Geeks Out was originally founded on land that is the traditional territory of the Massachusett and Pawtucket tribes, and which is still home to descendants of these peoples. At this point in time, the SGO team is fully remote, and we are located across the United States. Land acknowledgements are a way for us to reflect upon the duality of our work— while we work within our team, our community, and our client organizations to promote greater inclusivity and abolish inequities, we ourselves still perpetuate and contribute to various forms of historical and present oppression. We are now operating in a virtual space, but we can still honor and name the physical spaces we all inhabit. We encourage you to learn more about the lands you are currently on and reflect on your own place in this work.
