As the end of the year approaches, we thought we would take a moment to pause, catch our breath, and look back at 2016. If nothing else, this year has been eventful, to say the least. Never a dull moment!
Perhaps the most significant item of note to us on a personal level has been our commitment to SGO. As some of you may know, I decided to finally take the plunge and go all in. It took me more than a year to get the courage up, but in September I left my full time job at VMware to join the ranks of the self-employed! The transition to entrepreneurship was slightly bumpy (you can actually hear why in a podcast episode that we recorded), but working on something that I love and wholeheartedly believe in every day, with the best partner ever, and the most wonderful community, has been just amazing, to put it lightly.
What’s made my own transition even more exciting, if such a thing could even be possible, is the fact that Rachel decided last month to put her other business aside to focus all her attention on SGO as well. I know it was a hard thing for her to do after spending so many years working to build it, but the takeaway is that we both believe so strongly in the mission and purpose of what we are working on here. We are in this!
Through all the ups and downs of the past twelve months, She+ Geeks Out has steadily pushed forward. Here’s what our year looked like, by the numbers! In 2016, we:
We are constantly blown away by this community that has grown with us over the past year. As people and as business professionals, we value honesty, transparency, authenticity, and being genuine and awkward and geeky and true to oneself. Thank you all for celebrating all those same things with us. We are so excited to see what 2017 has in store!
